Organized assembly lines = more production!Below are the most common progressive assembly line layouts.
Direction of flow shown is to give a general idea how assembly lines
work. Items on P would return to the assembly line,
kitting supervisor for inspection before shipping. Another option would
be P conveyors flowing in the opposite direction for
inspection, shipping or subsequent assembly.
Conveyor length between stations may be longer for more online storage for surges. Although these look rigid, they are flexible progressive assembly lines. If an assembly task takes to long, a second station may be assigned the same task, cutting that task time in half. Various kits may be sent on the conveyor with the various items to be assembled, etc., etc. |
